Today started very early. We met at the Medford Airport at 4am. Everyone made it through security without getting checked except Cristian and I! They took all of my food out of my bag, and some out of Cristian's too. We managed to all make the flight on-time, and had a peaceful flight to Denver. Last week our Kindergarten students were able to spend time with our neighbors at Waterford at Three Fountains. They blessed the residents with Christmas carols, Bible verses, and handmade Christmas cards. The students did a fabulous job singing their carols, led by music teacher Mrs. Fretz and were just as blessed by the residents as they had blessed them. Jesus is the Reason for the Season!
On Friday, December 8, 2017, the Cascade Christian Choir, along with the high school band, were special guests at the Grace Christian Elementary School chapel. It is a long-standing tradition for the high school choir and band to perform for the younger students and is one of the ways Grace Christian and Cascade Christian stay connected as one school system.

Last week in Cascade Christian Middle School’s Junior Achievement class, our own Officer Cuellar paid a visit. As guest speaker, he shared with students about his career as a police officer. He even showed the class how to “lift” a fingerprint. Fascinating!
A favorite art lesson for our first grade students is “spinner art”. Students learn about spiral lines as they watch their pens twirl across paper. Basic concepts, such as spiral lines, are built upon throughout the year as students attend their regular art classes.

Miss Swope's middle school students remembered the tragedy of 9/11 today by writing prayers onto red, white or blue lawn flags. These prayers are for the victims' families and for our country. Restore the Bear is beginning its 6th year of summer restoration on the portion of Bear Creek adjoining the Cascade Christian campus. We will meet for three hours on four days during summer vacation. Cascade Christian Middle School students led a prayer time during break today as part of the National Day of Prayer ceremonies taking place across our Nation. The idea to pray during this time came from two middle school students who thought it important that everyone join in praying for our Nation together as one. While working on their research skills, Cascade Christian Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) students had to follow the Works Cited format for three different types of sources. Students worked together in teams on each citation and then had to DASH to check their answer. When their answer was 100% accurate, they were able to move on. When all of their citations were 100% accurate they received a candy prize!

On January 26, 8th grade students who participated in the US Heritage Tour presented their scrapbooks to teachers, peers, and family members. Students and chaperones were invited to share memories of the trip. It was a wonderful time of reflection on this amazing ten-day tour through America's history.
Third grade students recently completed a math unit that had them up and moving. Teachers Donelle Todd and Brenda Cave created math lessons which incorporated sports activities such as basketball, soccer, golf, and more. Students had to push their partner who gathered 7 balls into a basket. Grace Christian School fourth grade students in Mrs. Amann's class heard from a Physical Therapist last Friday in their classroom. They have been studying how God created their bones. One of the exercises was to label the bones on their body with sticky notes. They also performed strength tests to see how their bodies work. We hope you enjoy these photos!

Lights were glittering, cider was sparkling and students were dazzling at last night’s Gifts of Grace benefit dinner. This month our preschoolers are actively learning about the life cycle of a pumpkin. They have learned about all the parts of a pumpkin, including exploring the insides -- and even playing with it! A favorite activity was to fingerprint their own pumpkin!
Mrs. Wegner's 6th grade science students learned how Pedologists, or soil scientists, will often use the "feel method" when they are working outside of a laboratory to determine the texture of soil. The Nicaragua spring ministry outreach team, comprised of seventeen Cascade Christian High School students and four adults, is conducting a shoe collection drive beginning January 18 and ending February 24 to raise funds for their spring break trip. The students will earn money based on the number of pairs collected, as Funds2Orgs will purchase all of the donated goods. Every year the Cascade Christian High School biology students attend a two-day trip to the Oregon Coast, organized by Mr. Gary Bennett - Cascade science teacher, to take advantage of hands-on learning. Today our Grace Christian School Fun in the Sun day-campers went on an adventure to the OSU Extension Children's Garden on Hanley Road. Children ages 5 to 11 had the opportunity to learn about and work in the garden today. The weather was gorgeous and, as evidenced by the smiles, a fun time was had by all!
Our youngest students at Grace Christian School enjoyed end of year celebrations and graduations over the past two weeks. To end the school year, Mr. Alexander's 5th and 6th grade Spanish students were given a final project to create a poster about themselves. The poster was completed and written entirely in Spanish. We are excited to announce that Cascade Christian Sophmore, Nicole Morse, won her second straight Girls' District 3 Tennis Singles Championship at the 4A/3A/2A/1A Girls' Tennis Districts. The Challenger Mat Club sent seven of their wrestlers to the World of Wrestling - Reno Worlds tournament in Reno, Nevada earlier this month. The "Bug Man" was on the Grace campus today giving our fourth grade students an education on... BUGS! Cascade Christian sophomore Sarah Dombrowsky claimed one of three Top Qualifier positions at the 2015 Southern Oregon Poetry Out Loud Contest held at the Medford Library on Saturday, March 7. Grace Christian 7th grade student, Nicholas Sloan, has been notified by the National Geographic Society that he is one of the semifinalists eligible to compete in the 2015 Oregon National Geographic State Bee, sponsored by Google and Plum Creek.
