Lights were glittering, cider was sparkling and students were dazzling at last night’s Gifts of Grace benefit dinner. The gym was transformed to a silver and blue winter wonderland and over 230 guests enjoyed the festive evening. Artwork from students of all ages was displayed in the foyer for guests to adore as they fellowshipped and listened to the Cascade Christian High School Jazz Band and Concert Choir alternate performing Christmas melodies.
Thirteen Grace Cascade students provided holiday and classical dinner music as guests dined on fabulous green salads and were served elegant entrees. Student emcees Stella Sanchez, senior, and Jeffrey Fairbanks, junior, movingly introduced sixteen varying acts. We heard from our recent OSAA 3A Volleyball State Champions, enjoyed angelic voices, watched the talents of an ice skater and a dancer, and heard touching testimonials.
Mrs. Donnell Todd, 3rd grade teacher, through her words gave the audience a picture of who a Grace Cascade teacher is. Ben Joffer and Davis Siliga, CCHS alumni, returned to share their testimonies of how Cascade Christian High School positively influenced their lives. Davis went on to further explain how the night’s event was really about inspiring, impacting and investing in lives of young people and shared his desire to now give back to the community that once helped him. The Bailey family shared a moving testimony of how the support of generous donors have assisted their family in sending their two children (grades 8 and 11) to Grace Cascade Christian Schools. She attributes the outpouring of giving, whether financially or by volunteering, to be a very real reason why her daughter and son are thriving young Christians.
Mr. Max Brown was presented the GCCS Christian Leadership Award for his faithful commitment to Grace Cascade Christian Schools. He has been involved since Grace Christian was first formed in 1974 in various roles such as teacher, principal, parent, grandparent and volunteer. You will most likely see him at home sporting events with camera in hand, as he so enjoys capturing memories for students, their parents, and the school. His commitment is appreciated beyond measure.
All and all the event was a great success and a beautiful tribute to our Lord Jesus Christ and the gift of Christian education. The administration thanks the many hands who brought the evening together and the faithful supporters who have gifted financially so that students can continue to fulfil God’s purpose and affect the world for His glory.
