As a high school freshman, he was just 5’7″ and weighed 125 pounds. Who would have imagined then that Dante Olson would become a defensive force at Cascade Christian, and later a Buchanan Award linebacker at the University of Montana. The son of Jeff and Linda Olson had no doubts, and this summer, he is realizing his dreams of playing professional football. Olson is in training camp with the Philadelphia Eagles after signing a free agent contract.

An outstanding student at CCHS, Olson invested well his time in Missoula. With a 3.89 GPA, he was a candidate for the “Academic Heisman,” and he also served as a mentor to elementary school students. You would never guess by his stature now, but Dante was the target of bullies as a younger child, so he know what it’s like to be the underdog, and encourage those children struggling with the same issue.

Above all, Olson gives glory and thanks to God for the path the Lord has had him trod. It is evident that his faith is something that he is passionate and vocal about in his conversations with the media.

Olson is the latest Cascade Christian Challenger to have an opportunity to reach the highest level of athletics. Challenger sports Hall of Famers Marty Maurer (NFL Giants, Chargers), and Tim Alvarez (MLB Giants) have also made it to the top of the ladder, and are now successful members of the community, with students now attending Grace Cascade Christian Schools.

God bless you Dante Olson. We look forward to seeing you on Sundays soon!
