Looking back on middle school Chalk Walk and “Bucks for Books”…

This was the first year our middle school students held the annual Chalk Walk on the Cascade Christian campus. Eight 7th grade students worked hard all day on May 23rd to have their artwork completed in time for that evening’s Middle School Awards Night. The artists were mentored by three 8th grade students who were artists the previous year.

This year, the Chalk Walk pictures were derived from children’s book covers. What was unique about these covers, is they represented books that the middle school students chose to raise money for in their “Bucks for Books” campaign. The money was gifted to the Grace Christian School library so that elementary students there could enjoy these books.

The “Bucks for Books” fundraiser – organized by class officers – raised a total of $565.82! Sixth grade placed third with a total of $56.75 raised. Seventh grade came in second with $82.87 raised, and eighth grade was first with $423.20 raised.

What a HUGE blessing!!! The students will be so happy to have NEW books!!!
I am so happy to have new books! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!!! – Julie Skelton, GCS Librarian
