The Grace Christian Elementary School winners of the 2017-2018 Reading Hall of Fame* were announced at Chapel on Friday, March 2. Mrs. Julie Skelton informed everyone that 98 students participated in this year’s Reading Hall of Fame, with 38 of those students completing more than one entry. A total of 2,016 were read – 480 more books than last year!!

We are excited to announce that this year’s grand prize winner – receiving a Kindle Fire – was Katie from Mrs. Knight’s kindergarten class!

Adeline from Mrs. Knight’s class and Nora from Mrs. Orndoff’s preschool class were both
recognized for
completing 15 entries
and were gifted
a bag of books.

There was a tie for the classroom competition. Both Mrs. Amann’s 4th grade class and Mrs. Knight’s kindergarten class had 100% participation. They received an ice cream party as their reward.

We are happy to see students enjoying their books and we pray that they become lifelong readers!

*What is Reading Hall of Fame?

Grace Christian Elementary students have the opportunity to read books and record them on entry forms. For every six books read, the student fills out a Reading Hall of Fame entry form which is hung on the wall of the school library. (Preschool/PreK students may have 12 books read to them.) The books need to be age appropriate for the reading level and only one book can be in the form of a cartoon. Multiple entries are allowed and are placed into a drawing for a Kindle Fire. This year’s entry time was open from the beginning of Christmas break 2017 to the end of February 2018. The winners were announced at the March 2, 2018 Chapel service.
