Grace Christian’s 1st Principal Turns 100! Norm Holden was hired as principal when Grace Christian opened in 1974 after teaching in Gold Hill. He served until his retirement in the 80s, and four of his eight children attended GCS- including Maureen, Gloria (class of ’81), Wesley (class of ’83), and David- who attended through his early high school years. His daughter Nancy also served an an elementary teacher.
In a birthday post tribute to his dad, Wesley shares the story of Mr. Holden buying his first car for $15, the greatly anticipated arrival of a radio in his boyhood home in the 1930s and he also tells of his father’s service for the US Army Air Corps during World War II in India.
On Facebook, a number of Mr. Holden’s colleagues and students recall his humility, kindness, and commitment to help families raise of up children n the Christian faith. After many years together, his wife Leona went home to be with the Lord in 2007. Norm continues to call Central Point home.
